Ep#30 HoP updates
Me talking in the car not sure on this way of doing it but if you want to hear more let me know i might try doing them more regularly.
So hey guys, what's going on? Haven't done one of these for quite a while. Obviously been quite busy, just with life stuff, plus just track stuff. Pretty much the only time I've got spare is here in the car, so that's where I'm recording this one from. So hopefully the sound and everything like that, it's all good. Yeah, well, hopefully it is, because if it's not, by the time I put it on the computer, I won't be putting it up, so you won't hear this anyway. So, yeah, obviously just being there, yeah, pretty flat out with work, and then not having a job there for a few weeks was still sort of flat out, and then, yeah, pretty much heaps of people asking me about the podcast and stuff, but, yeah, pretty much burnt through everything local and, like, just... Like, you know, the other week at the Australian Speed Car Tour, people were like, oh, there's heaps of people here you could do one with, but it's like, you know, when's anyone going to have a spare couple of hours on race weekend or that to do one? It just sort of doesn't work out. It's not viable. So, yeah, don't really know where it's heading. The last time I did a solo one, I got some pretty good feedback, so we'll see how we go. Might keep plugging away at these now that the off-season is well and truly here. So, yeah. So, obviously, yeah, been to quite a few Australian titles this year, been quite lucky in that regard. I was going to put out a podcast after the Australian Sprint Car title, but I sort of just didn't want to drag all that up again and, you know, kick any of that conversation off again. It just is what it is. It's been gone, run and done, and, yeah. And if I'm being quite honest, I don't even know what really went wrong and what happened. Like, night two was killer. Night two was fine. There's no issues there. It's just obviously, yeah, there's issues on night one and yeah, it is what it is. But yeah, run done down. No real point in talking about it. And then, yeah, it was obviously lucky enough to get to the wingless title in Mildura. That was absolutely killer. That was such good racing all weekend. Like, yeah, I know a lot of people bag wingless, but yeah. The racing was absolutely on point there all weekend. So, I was actually quite amazed at how well presented the vehicles were too. Like, you know, like I think a lot of people, if you've been around the speedway a long time, you remember, you remember wingless being the NOS sprints and they sort of really were like farmer's cars. But now, like honestly, there's only like one or two bad looking cars there at the title. Like, and I'm still sure that they still had good parts on them. Like, But some of the cars, the way that they turned out, it's just absolutely amazing. It's like credit to those guys who put all the effort in to make everything look so good on them. And then, yeah, obviously Tyson Martin getting the job done there at what's technically his hometown. Absolutely belter. He's just so fast. Once he's out in front, it's just so hard to catch. So full credit to everything those guys are doing there and that team there as well. I know there's a lot of stuff that got said about them cheating and stuff, but, I mean, they've passed multiple street hearings with that vehicle, and there's been no issues, so, yeah, it is what it is. They've stopped talking now, so, and then, yeah, obviously, we got to the super title as well. That was cool. Seeing supers at Bordertown was actually, like, killer as well. Seeing something a little bit slower there than sprint cars, it was good to see, like, There's, I think there's one point there in the feature, there's about like five wide, which is like just killer to see. So, can't wait to get back to Bordertown, hopefully next season. There's a few rumblings on some stuff happening there, so we'll see how that all pans out. And then, yeah, obviously you got to back to Mildura to see the, oh, actually before that, you got to Murray Bridge for the Australian speed car title, so... And anyone who's had anything to do with speed cars in either New South Wales or SA knows how good a job Alison Dwyer does with everything that she does. Absolutely puts her heart and soul into speed cars. And yeah, just sort of the little like, I think like gimmicky is kind of like the wrong word to use, but like all the stuff that she had the idea of like making those cutouts of the cars and stuff to hand out to the crowd, like that was like just so good, like to see all that stuff. and i can guarantee you're gonna see so many tracks pinching that idea and there'll be so many people doing it now but yeah as long as people know that allison was the first so just all those little things make the event sort of come together and yeah and then like i know that obviously there's some conjecture around that event that you got cut seven laps short but you know like I'm kind of torn, because I know that in one way, the top three was not changing, but then you also don't know that, you know, it's racing, anything could happen in seven laps. Like, I get that, I understand it, but, I mean, that top three was pretty well locked in, run and done. Like, yeah. I feel sorry for some of the guys that were back further. Like, you know, some of those guys changing positions means a hell of a lot to go from eighth to fifth in an Australian title or a finishing place. I mean, like... yeah just i don't know it's just one of those things it is what it is like and that's on formula 500 feature before it probably didn't help with the eight reds that they had and yeah and like i mean even they got laps caught off them but yeah it's just once again it's one of those things it's run done it's done now it's been declared an event so yeah is what it is right i'm sure all the uh speaker committee members are going to have fun at their agm but you yeah is what it is so and then yeah luckily we uh we ventured back to new jura uh right there they say spring cars but yeah the national um production modified title was on at the same time um talk about presentation the way that those cars are presented so great like just the effort those guys go above and beyond with some of the way they present those cars like the Yeah, it was just killer to see that grand parade. It's just so good. That's one of the things that the sedan classes do so well. Those grand parades just work so well. Obviously a little bit harder in sprint cars, I know, because they're not self-starting. So the way they can just park all the guys up and start them and they all sort of take off together is absolutely killer to see. And it's just, yeah, it's very like vivid to see it, all the different colors and stuff like that and all the different, obviously different cars too. You know, there's, it's not just, you know 20 sprint cars out there it's like you know there's like 80 different types of cars out there it's like you know Camaro and a couple of Mercs there's a Lexus and you know the RX-8 and you know just different different stuff it's not all just Falcons and Commodores so yeah it's great to see that and obviously the to see the McDonald I've never seen the McDonald brothers race in person either so to see them race in person it's like man it's um unreal it's like I don't know how they race to like together like that as brothers it's like you know if the cars were like different colors or something like that you wouldn't even think that they were like a team as such because there's just they there's certainly no like oh you're my brother in racing or anything like that they're going hard at it to like beat each other there's no yeah it's definitely um once they've strapped the helmet on it's like because yeah they're here to race and not mess about so yeah it was great great to see that as well so yeah and then um obviously been a pretty big season for us too like covered a lot of events like we've gone did pretty much nearly everything in sa spring car wise i don't think we actually yeah we didn't miss an sa spring car operator show this year obviously i've taken over the socials there and running that helping helping them out with that um hopefully i've brought the um brought that up for life a bit better than where it was at and yeah so yeah definitely didn't miss an SA Sprint Car show and then yeah got a bunch of wingless shows in as well and yeah then we ventured to Bordertown for Supers and then onto the Mount with Supers as well so that was actually two great nights of racing that second night of the Mount had the feature done by 8.40 so that was cool but unfortunately our night didn't end until 2.30 in the morning but that's another story so Yeah. Actually, I really love Supers. Like, I'm not just a sprint car guy. Like, anyone who's listened before and stuff knows I'm not just about sprint cars. It's like I'm just a Speedway fan. So if I get the opportunity to go watch someone else race and, you know, it's a good quality field, I'm interested regardless sort of thing. So, yeah, it's pretty cool to see that. And then, yeah, obviously we did all Classic. We did all the Speed Week as well. That was... That was a bit of a tough girl. We were in the van for the week following that. And then obviously, yeah, went a bit haywire on the way home because Womba had done such a good job of running the show in. I figured that we could just drive home that night back to Adelaide and make it. But yeah, unfortunately, a kangaroo had a different idea. And yeah, that kind of stopped the idea of getting home there. And then I ended up spending an extra couple of days in Magamia trying to sort that out. That was one of the joys of racing, and I don't even race. So, it is what it is, though. Can't do nothing about it. And then, yeah, sort of, obviously, the Adelaide 500, too. Like, what an event that was. That was hard to put in perspective. Like, there's just so many cool things that came from it, and they're not even to do with, like, the racing per se. Like, they were... just the little things are like people not seeing spring cars for the first time you know some of the guys letting just fans just walk through a trailer because obviously they don't get that luxury in their supercars so some of the people you know see that and see that you know you can do that week in week out with us you know they were sort of mind blown by it like seen some cool stuff like Corey McCullough had a couple of school classes sit down and he gave him a little education lesson on what a sprint car is and they all got to sit in and have a photo and stuff and it was just like you know he's made memories for those kids that they're not gonna sort of ever forget and he's probably made a couple of race fans for life as well so there's just there's all those things to do with the racing as well that it wasn't the racing that was the product kind of thing that was just you know stuff like that is invaluable to our sport and just know people walking around through the pit all day and stuff but yeah it was killer i can't wait for next year hopefully that's all going ahead um i'm sure there's some big things to come out about that soon um and then yeah hopefully we get a gig there again this year and yeah so i can't wait for that and then uh yeah well obviously we got australian uh spring car titles back in Miami this year as well so that's a SA Sprint Car Run show so yeah hopefully get a bit of a gig there and yeah I don't haven't really got plans going into next season yet probably need a need to probably drop a few shows off because financially it's sort of starting to hurt a little bit not you know not making money out of doing this so yeah we'll see what happens got to do a bit of planning but yeah I've got a um A few things in the works. I'm probably going to have a real crack at the merch side of things too. So we'll see what happens there. I've got a few designs going on and stuff like that. But I don't know. I'm a bit... I'm pretty torn on it because I don't want to be... I don't want to invest so much that I've then got to like... I have to sell it to make my money back kind of thing. I don't... I just really don't want to go down that route. So I don't know if I'm going to do like a print to order or like... I don't know. But then I have this thing about, like, if you've got to do print to order and wait to get the merch in your hand, like, hiding with your monies. Like, I don't do it personally because it's like I'm paying for something and I'm not getting my goods straight away. So, I wouldn't want to expect anyone else to do it. So, I don't know. We'll see what happens. One of the biggest things is I get asked about hats all the time. So, let me know what sort of merch you want to see and I'll have a look at it and have a think. But, yeah. So, um... Yeah. I don't know. I'm so torn on the whole merch thing. It's no different to a team that starts doing merch. They've got to... You've really got to sell it. Otherwise, you just end up either giving it away or, like, yeah. You see some blokes selling stuff that's two years old because they've invested the money in it. And, yeah, I just don't want to be... I don't want to be that guy. So, yeah. I don't know. We'll see. See what happens. So... But, yeah, I know that we're going to... Yeah, sort of definitely have a look at what we're going to do going into next season. Because I think, or I don't think, I know I got lost in YouTube this season. Not sort of, I've sort of known where my lane is, to be honest. I don't know where I fit in in the whole landscape. Like, it seems to like, you know, if you document the whole day, people don't watch it. But then people want to see behind the scenes stuff. They don't want to see too much racing because they've either watched the racing on Cloudview or they were there at the event in person. So then them sitting there watching the racing again is like, oh yeah, I've seen that. So I don't really know where and what to go in capturing these events that we're going to, if I'm being completely honest. Seems like one of the biggest things at the moment social media wise is just making reels. But I mean, I don't really want to go to these events just to be a guy that creates reels. I'm not, yeah, I don't really want to be doing that either. So yeah, I'm not, not sure. Sort of got to sit back and have a think about it. And yeah, I think probably the hard thing too, is that sometimes we've been to, been to these events and we've, you know, we filmed what we thought was killer stuff and then you get it in the computer and it just hasn't worked out or trying to, you know, put together a night's worth of video. It, you know sometimes it's a hard timeline to try and get something together so it's like yeah i'll sort of i guess i'm just trying to look for a format and then i'll stick to that format because that's you know people are going to watch because of a format not just because you know each video is sort of random or or whatever so yeah i don't know sort of got to do a bit more r&d on that and yeah so yeah but yeah obviously step up this year so brought in a couple more cameras to chuck on board and stuff um even though i lost one of the australian sprint car title not sure how that happened to be completely honest um towards the end of the night there's a certain period of the night that's pretty hazy for multiple reasons but anyway so yeah i obviously lost a lost an 800 camera too so that so the wallet took a bit of a hit there too so yeah well um yeah i don't know i've i've got ideas on what i want to do next season but then we'll just see what happens. Going to probably trial a few things at the start of the season and just see how that goes. But yeah. The other thing with the socials is you're always battling an algorithm. You've got something killer to post or you've got a killer reel or something to post and then you just post it at the wrong time of day and it's just done. It's game over. It's like, forget about it. It's never going to get seen kind of thing. So there's just always these things about you know, what time of day and when and, you know, what sort of demographic you're trying to get to and, yeah, you know. And it's hard too because I think, like, sometimes people go past the stuff too because it's not controversial. Like, you know, that's why I think these other guys post stuff that's so controversial is because the comment section ends up being the content, not the content itself. It's like, so... Yeah, and, like, I don't know. I just don't want to be that guy. I never... I just... Yeah, I'm never going to go down that route. Like, you know, there's a few things I've posted that I've thought have been, like, sort of half controversial and I've sort of, you know, not even wanted to do that. So to go just full outright clickbaity is not something that I want to do, like, period. So... And, you know, I'll pull the pin on this before doing that. So... yeah so i don't yeah i mean in hindsight i don't really know where i fit in in the youtube landscape you know maybe i don't fit in at all i don't don't really know so well um yeah all right it's it's a hard one it's um i don't know whether to do more talking head i hate doing the talking head stuff because i feel like an absolute dickhead standing in the pits filming myself or having nikki filming like talking to the camera like it's just yeah, I don't know, my ego is not there to do it comfortably kind of thing, like, yeah, I'm not, um, I don't like doing it, but, yeah, it sort of is what it is, if that's the route you gotta go down, I don't know, I suppose you gotta do it, like, or you gotta, you gotta pick whether you're gonna be in front of the camera or behind it, like, there's plenty of YouTube stuff out there where people are behind the camera and it's successful and they're not really in it, so, yeah, I don't know, we'll, we're gonna have to have, we're gonna have to have a good look at it, because it's just, It's just too much time and money that's sort of almost been wasted really on doing it, like traveling to all these events. And yeah, most of these events we don't even get into under a media pass either. We're paying to get into these places. So, you know, it's not like we're getting a free ride anywhere either. So yeah, yeah, a bit of a hard one. But yeah, it's just, yeah, I don't know. I don't, I don't know. We'll have to see. So I'll definitely still do like the Facebook, Instagram stuff. And yeah, we'll definitely carry on with that. And obviously like probably some people obviously know, other people don't know, but obviously run a few team pages as well for teams doing their social media. So that's sort of, that's kind of in the background taken off quite nicely as well for us. Got another couple of teams already jumping on board next year. So, yeah, there's a few more. Quite a few pages to sort of do stuff for there. Probably the worst part is moderating it. You post something, it doesn't matter to what page or what you're doing. And, yeah, you've got to always keep an eye on the comments and stuff like that. That's what kills me and takes up so much time is you're always worried about some Gumby commenting something and then the comments kick off and it's like nobody wants their page deleted. well not nobody but most people don't want their page to be that so especially you know when you got sponsors looking and stuff like that so yeah doing that it's all it's all time just yeah everything's time hence why i'm doing the podcast in the car because this is really my only free time that i have between work and and doing like other stuff so pretty much get home gym eat dinner and then i'm pretty much straight back to the computer like five six times a week trying to create content and research and yeah i've got a i've got a couple of projects that i'm doing a pretty big deep dive on um trying to make one project like a full like proper sort of documentary um just in the basis of sort of like writing it out in terms of like the way that i'm gonna put it together and then i'm gonna I don't know if I'm doing it right or wrong because I've never obviously done a documentary but I'm then gonna like film it around a timeline sort of per se so um yeah that's a bit of a hard one I'm sort of already up against it with that one um that in itself is a sort of very controversial topic so there's obviously a for and against for it with anything in our sport so Yeah, and I obviously just want to... I just want to be in the middle ground, you know, not one or the other kind of thing. So, yeah, we'll see how that goes, see how that starts panning out. You know, that's the worst thing about filming stuff or putting any video together is, like, you think it's going to be killer and then you get to the editing of it and it's not what you thought. So, yeah, and that might be... one of them, so see what happens. I'm hoping it's going to be all good, but we'll wait and see. So that one there, I'm planning on doing a documentary on the V8 wingless situation. I want to do a deep dive into why it can't happen or why not it can happen sort of thing. just seems to be some people that are just outright against it and i i don't know why and some of the stuff i want to find out is yeah why like it's you know some of the stuff i've already done my research on it's like the wingless is faster than a super rod and a super rod is a v8 non-wing spring car okay it's got a fiberglass body on it but yeah so i like I don't know. There's a lot of research going to it. A lot of people to talk to. I've already started talking to a few people and yeah, got, got feelers on stuff and it's, it's, it's hard because you talk, depending on who you're talking to, they're either for it or they're against it. So, and they're pretty one-eyed with it as well. So, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. We'll, we'll see how that goes. But it's definitely something that's of interest. Um, a lot of interest in the sport in general kind of thing really like there's a lot of guys that want it there's guys that don't want it there's guys guys that will come from other classes if they did go va like yeah it's just it's a hard way especially for me when i'm you know if you're being logical it seems like it's the logical step to take but then there's other things that being said that no the next engine is going to be an ecotech which that just that doesn't make sense to me at all and yeah they're not the easiest of engines to do they have more problems than the current one and like especially valve train related like you talk to anyone in modified sedans who's running ecotech like there's a lot of stuff in the valve train with them that goes wrong and needs a lot of maintenance and stuff so yeah we'll see how that goes i sort of You sort of want to play the devil's advocate on that one, to be honest. I don't want to... Yeah, I don't want to be one way or the other. Certainly don't want to be pissing anyone off or getting anyone offside or anything like that. So... Yeah, I don't know. We'll just... Keep plugging away at it and see how we go with it. And then... Yeah, that's pretty much the biggest project I've got in the off-season. I'm hoping to get it done in the off-season because I know that a few of these clubs, like the Wingless Australia and stuff like that, they have their AGM and stuff like that. So I'll get some feedback from that and stuff. Yeah, go from there kind of thing. So, yeah. And then, yeah. I don't really know. I don't really know. I just don't ever want to be that controversial guy that's just clickbait and causing a stir. But, yeah, at the same time, I'd like to sort of get to the bottom of this. And, yeah, I don't know. It's another confusing one as much as where do I fit in in YouTube land sort of thing. So, yeah. Yeah, I don't know. So, obviously on the weekend, just going to, I had a crack at doing a bit of commentary at Murray Bridge on the infield with Brett Ireland. That was cool. It was a lot harder than I thought. Like, just all night, you've got either the Clayton View Australian or the producer in your ear. You sort of, yeah. And then you hear yourself speak too, which is, I know that you always hear yourself speak, but like you, comes through like the actual headset and it's like of like just the slightest delay is like the most off-putting thing ever so yeah I sort of worked it out by the end of the night I just cracked one headphone just cracked it over a little bit and it was much better but yeah I had fun it was good um hopefully I get to do more of it I've I've asked to do more of it so we'll see how that goes see if Maybe that's the avenue, I don't know. See what happens. Yeah, definitely had a blast doing it, though. It was cool to bounce off Brett. He's so knowledgeable, especially in the speed cars and stuff, so yeah, full on. Wait and see what happens there, but yeah, sort of not holding my breath either on that. But, ah well, it is what it is. It is what it is, so... Yeah. But I don't know. Had a blast this season. I think, like, obviously the page, everything like that, growing bigger again. And, yeah, I think it grew by, like, over 2,500 people this season. So, which I know doesn't sound much when there's pages out there that have millions of people that follow and stuff. But, yeah, it's also, you know, it's growing. The good thing is that it's growing organically. It's not blowing up, like, too fast that hopefully it, you know doesn't die kind of thing but it's like yeah it is growing organically and yeah one of the best things is that I can walk around the pits with my head held high too because I have the right people telling me that I'm doing the right thing and stuff and I'm not not being controversial or clickbaity so yeah that's sort of always always one thing that I'm proud of is you know having people talk to me about that sort of stuff so yeah I don't know. I do put a lot of time and effort into this to try and make it work. So I think that's where I get disappointed in myself that stuff like the YouTube and stuff's not kind of working out. But at the same time, I came into it knowing that this was going to be a hard slog and it wasn't going to be anything easy. It's always going to be a long process. It's never going to just come overnight. So... yeah so yeah i don't know much like this right now i don't know what to do i don't know where to go with i've got so much to talk about but not at the same time if that makes sense um it's probably it's a bit late to recap events especially when you know events were held so long ago sort of thing it's um i just wish i had time after these events to do recaps because i could probably put short podcasts up about them but yeah it's just like literally don't have the time to to do it unfortunately so um yeah hopefully hopefully we can make a bit more time for it next year and see how it goes that way i can get some more content out um yeah like i said in the beginning i got a lot of good feedback about the last solo pod that i did so see how it goes well um yeah I don't know, and there's stuff too, I don't want to talk about stuff either, like, you know, there's stuff that I've seen and heard throughout the year that, you know, just stays where it is kind of thing, so there's always that sort of stuff too, so, yeah. Hopefully, yeah, obviously Murray Bridge is our closest track to home, so that's sort of our local base and Yeah, obviously seeing that made to go has only got one more year and even that, the joint's up for sublease is, you know, kind of worrying. It's not great. I think Speedway's in a bad place in general. I think the way the dollar's going, things are only going to get worse. I think things are only going to get worse, period. Obviously, I work construction and... I've seen a lot of projects get the brakes pumped on them because of financials. I think that's the thing for me. When you see the big guys who are millionaires, billionaires, when they're pulling the purse strings, that's when money's tight. That's when the little guy is absolutely hurting. Unfortunately, our sport is quite blue-collar. So there's a lot of guys that do work sort of regular jobs or own medium-sized sort of businesses that help pay for their racing. And unfortunately, like, everyone's just hurting. So, yeah, sort of seeing some teams wind up as well. And then other guys are sort of shortening the amount of races that they're doing. So it's like, yeah, it was an interesting conversation I had a couple of months ago too, that, you know, potentially we do too much sprint car racing and we're oversaturating the market. So if we scaled back the amount of races that we have in SA, like, you know, would that generate more interest? Like, you know, are people spreading themselves too thin to go to all these shows, races and fans? And, you know, if we pulled back on the shows a bit, you know, would that, potentially bring a few more cars out of the sheds that are sitting around or you know would that bring more people back to the track kind of thing like yeah there's a there's a lot there's a lot sort of unpacked there and a lot of it's not even racing related it's just it's just the dollar and world economic issues really that are causing it so I don't I don't really see an insight you know to that ending at the moment I think you know, the current cost of living are just going to become the new cost of living. They're not going to get any better or their drastic change. They're not going to go back to like 1980 prices or anything like that. So I think we're stuck here and sort of in for a bad time in the next couple of years, to be honest. So, yeah, I don't know. I don't know. It's a hard one. Like, I think... I see it as a valid point that if there's less racing, it garners more interest and you're not oversaturating the product. I also see it the other way, though, that the more racing you have, the more of it, more people can see it and stuff like that, too. But at the same time, the more of it, it's got to be a quality product regardless. So, yeah, in that regard, you probably are better off going less racing than having a quality product. So, yeah. I think, obviously, too, like, a lot of guys came and raced Murray Bridge this year because the title was here. I think no title there next year. I think you're going to struggle to see guys race sprint cars there, especially the Victorian guys who'd come over. You know, like, there's nothing there for them to come over now. It's not like they're getting practice laps in at the venue beforehand or anything like that. So I think, yeah, I think you might see a few more guys go to the Mount Gambier. But, yeah, I don't know. Miami's calendars are really pretty choppers, so I don't know if you'd see many more spring car shows added to Miami as to what you would on a normal season. So, yeah, I don't know. I think we're in for bad times, not just in Speedway, but probably just the way of living in Australia, full stop. So, yeah, it's certainly not in our control anyway, unless you're listening to this and you're a politician, then pull your head in, but... Yeah, it's just, yeah. And then like, you know, some of the stuff too, I've spoken to guys and obviously they're at the top end of their classes and stuff, but you know, like the money that they're spending on wingless now, it's like, you know, some of those guys can go 360 racing. Obviously you probably not do as many shows as what they do in a wingless, but they can go race. They can go race the 360, you know, for maybe six to eight shows of the year instead of doing, 20, 25 wingless shows. So, and their cars are literally just capable of swapping the motor out and putting a wing on it and it can be a 360. It's not, there's no, it's not like it's that bad of a car that it needs, you know, major upgrades to get done or anything like that. It's like, yeah, they're all built quality cars and that's, that's where sprint car racing, that's where wingless racing is at at the moment too. Like, you know, it's just, everyone's got killer motors and like, you know, Adjustable shocks and stuff... And... Like... It's just... Yeah... It's just... I haven't gotten out of control... It's just racing... It's what's always going to happen... Like... There's always going to be someone... Who's got the best of the best... And... You know... All that sort of stuff... So... Yeah... It's like... But I mean... If you think sprint car racing's... Cost money... It's just... It modifies the end money costs... Like... Those were expensive money... Like... That's big money to go and modify the scenario. I mean, to be at the top. And be at the top of any class it is, too. But, yeah. So, yeah. I think we're in for bad times just in general. So, yeah. Obviously, election coming up. So, we'll see what Pelican gets put into that. But, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't want to get political either. I hate talking about political stuff, but, yeah, so, yeah, sorry, I've just lost my train of thought, really, because these pelicans cut me off in front, but, so, um, yeah, obviously, some of the, I spent a lot of time with the English guys, and, you know, the way that some of those cars are presented, and the parts that they've got on them, they're just, they're killer, like, they, they, they are a spring car, like, anyway, like, It's just a matter that they've got the V6 in it and no wing. It's like, they're that high a calibre of a car. So, yeah. So, it's not... And then, like, you could talk about midget money. I was talking to someone the other night who... They've built a midget from the ground up and that... That's, like, scary money. That's... That's, like, you could do a lot of stuff for that kind of money. Like, yeah. People think... people think sprint cars are expensive oh boy that's uh yeah there's some money there's some there's some money in midgets like unfortunately not a lot of money to win but yeah there's some money in building them like jeez so yeah obviously had a blast with the midgets the last couple of weeks they put on such good racing like they're such a such an underrated class in Australia sort of thing but I actually don't know many drivers who don't want to drive one, though. Like, even guys, guys with sedans who hate sprint cars are still like, oh, yeah, I want to have a drive of a speed car one day. So, yeah. It's, like, it's weird that everyone wants to be like that, but then they're also sort of a bit underrated, but, yeah. So, yeah. I sort of turned into that bloke this year, too. There's, like, every bit of racing I've seen was like, oh, that's the best racing I've seen, and it's like... yeah that's what happened the midget title was probably some of the best racing i have seen all year um i think the best racing period i've seen this year um adelaide 500 was cool as like there was just so much stuff that happened there there was like such an atmosphere going on there um i remember on the friday night when all the on track bitch when stuff had finished. There was literally about a thousand people walked to watch the sprint cars and I didn't even know what this noise was. I could hear this noise, but none of the cars had pushed off yet. So I was confused by it. And it was like, and then I turned around and there was this like dust storm and it was like all the people walking along like the paths to get to the sprint cars. And it was all their chatter. And then it was just like this extra thousand people just like Walked in. It was like. It was bizarre. Like. And then. Obviously. Spoke to a few people. Who'd. They'd never seen. They'd never even seen a sprint car before. They didn't know anything about them. So. You know. It's kind of cool to. Answer questions. And. Yeah. Be that kind of stuff. That. That was cool. So. Yeah. Like I said. Hopefully we see that back. Back this year. And. Yeah. I'm sure there's some. Some big things coming out for that. Because that's only going to get bigger and better. There's. There's no way they're going to just leave that show at what it was. They sort of don't do anything behalf of the Adelaide 500, so... Yeah, we'll wait and see what happens there. Probably need to book time off work for that too, you know, so... Yeah, we've got... Just reading a message, sorry. I just got a message about potentially covering another event... after after i'll put all over our socials that the season's running down and we're over and then yeah why i have one have one more show to go to so yeah um we'll see what happens we'll see what happens um yeah i'm keen for it though so yeah So yeah, I've obviously got, I do have a few more podcast guests around Adelaide too, but just trying to line everything up with their free time and my free time, it's like, it's almost impossible. You know, I just, I'm just not, I'm not going down that Zoom route. I just don't want to, don't want to do it. I have got a few things in the documentary, unfortunately, that I'll have to do via Zoom, but yeah, that's just, yeah, that's... what it is unfortunately I'm not not in a position to sort of fly around the country and you know talk to talk to people like if uh if financials weren't an issue I'd be flying around the country all the time doing podcasts and stuff I wouldn't have a a qualm in doing that but yeah unfortunately it's not the it's not the position I'm in so yeah so yeah I've got I've got a few few lined up I'm trying really hard I've got a what I think will be a good one lined up with what this person's done and is potentially gonna do um but yeah we'll um we'll see how that goes um yeah it's just a matter of their free time my free time lining up um which generally weekend too which makes it sort of harder too so we'll um yeah we'll see what happens there so yeah Don't know how many more of these I'll do because this is awkward as sitting in the car talking to yourself and driving at the same time is bizarre. But that's where I'm at with time. So here's what it is. Like I said, no one might not even hear this because it might sound crap and I'm not putting it out. So yeah. Move out the way, mate. So yeah, we... I think the best racing that I did see, though, will be a tight toss-up between Mildura wingless title and Mildura modified sedan title. That's... That's probably a hard one. Yeah, this... My God. Sorry. That would probably be a hard one. Seeing those two McDonald bros go at it was wild. And then obviously seeing Tyson leading the title, and then he obviously got put back a couple of positions too because he apparently passed on the infield. Yeah, and he drove back there, so he kind of did it twice, and that's... kind of one of the bad things about the people that, you know, put doubt on him and that, like, he definitely, definitely earned that title, um, yeah, Mildura's, it's probably such good racing there, it's so underrated, that joint, like, it's just, um, yeah, probably the worst thing that's happened there is, like, I've just been there, and it's just so bloody hot, you know, it's in the mid-40s when I've been there, like, you know, and then the track has taken rubber or something like that, and it's just, it's not really a fair representation on, that place and the people or anything like that. So, yeah, it was obviously freezing there on the weekend. It was the first time I've ever worn a hoodie in Mildura. So, yeah, I don't know. It'd be a tight battle as to what was better, was the wingless title or modified sedan title, but it'd be one of those two. And then, yeah. Obviously, stuff like the Adelaide 500, the racing was absolutely killer. Especially on 9-1, that was absolutely banger. I think one of the best things about the 500 was it proved that we don't need big tracks. Like, we compare ourselves to America so much in Australian speedway. And, you know, like, people whinge about, you know, we don't have big tracks in Australia and, you know, like, all this sort of stuff. But, you know, we proved that you don't need them for good racing. Like... What the 500 served up was absolutely perfect. There's no issues. So, you know, I don't know anything about whether the track layout is going to change or if it's going to be the same or what. But, yeah, I'm assuming it's going to be the same. They are pretty tight for space there. So, yeah, it's pretty cool seeing that go from a cricket pitch to a racetrack and obviously back to a cricket pitch. So, yeah. I actually haven't been back there for a while. I should probably get back there now that that's greening up and get a photo of it to put something up. Yeah. But yeah, seeing everyone that went in there too. And it's quite eye-opening to be there with SA Sprint Cars and see all the stuff that goes into the background of that too. That's probably been one of the biggest eye-opening things of this season is seeing what goes in. People probably don't really know what these committees and clubs and stuff do, but I'm telling you now it is 110 the backbone of speedway it's just nothing can happen without these clubs so i'm a big advocate too for people joining committees and stuff like that too like if you're gonna whinge about something you know like you've got to at least be willing to put your hand up and help out and you know do what you can kind of thing and a lot of people just sort of tend to tend not to. They'd rather sort of win from the sidelines and jump in a committee and help out and do anything. I know it's a hard thing, but yeah, it's... I sort of feel like people my age are like the last of a generation that are going to do it. And, you know, really, if you want this sport to continue, you need younger people to jump in and, you know... I don't know. Is it a thing of, like, it's not cool to be in a committee or something? Like, I don't know. Like, it's not... it's not the case at all. It's like, it's just, it's something that needs to be done for the sport to keep going. So I urge anyone, if you're thinking or, you know, you're half, half on the fence about it, definitely join, join the committee that's suited to you, whether that's, you know, your local speedway or your, your club that you're a member of or something like that. Definitely do it. Cause you know, at the end of the day, a lot of the stuff that gets passed on, it will affect you. So there's, you know, There's no better way than correcting that by being on a committee in the first place. So, yeah. All right. Yeah, well, I think I'll wrap it up there because, yeah, I don't really know how this is going to pan out. So instead of absolutely boring you to death like I just have, I'll just leave it there. And then, yeah, let me know if you want to hear more of these and I'll see if I can do a couple more. Peace.
UNKNOWN:Peace.
